How to embed your Instagram feed in Squarespace

Add a Code block to your page, paste one embed code, and your Instagram posts appear on your Squarespace site and stay up to date.

Before you start: get your embed code

  1. Sign up for Social Feed by grip space with your email address. The Free plan lets you create one widget.
  2. In the dashboard, click “+ Connect Instagram account” and connect an Instagram professional account (Business or Creator). A personal account can be switched to a professional account for free in the Instagram app.
  3. Open “Settings & preview”, choose a grid or a slider, set the number of posts and columns while checking the preview, and save.
  4. Under “Add the embed code to your website”, click “Copy”. The code looks like this:
<script type="text/javascript" src="https://n246.grip.space/api/v1/instagram/widget/xxxxxxxx"></script>

The posts appear exactly where you paste this code. Keep it handy for the next steps.

Your plan: the embed code is a script, and Squarespace runs JavaScript in Code blocks only on the Core, Plus and Advanced plans. On the Basic plan, the Code block does not run the script and the feed does not appear.

Add the feed with a Code block

  1. Open the page where you want the feed and click Edit.
  2. Hover over a section and click Add block (or +), then choose Code.
  3. Click the pencil icon on the block to open its editor.
  4. Make sure the mode is HTML and that Display Source is turned off.
  5. Paste the embed code, close the editor and click Save.

Resize or move the block to change where the feed appears. The feed fits the width of the block.

If you do not see the feed while editing

Code blocks sometimes do not appear while you are logged in to Squarespace. To check the feed, open your site in a private browser window, or use Preview in Safe Mode.

If your posts do not appear

  1. Check that the widget is set to Published in the dashboard. An unpublished widget shows nothing.
  2. Make sure the whole code was pasted, from <script to </script>.
  3. Look at the published page, not the editor. Many editors do not run scripts while you are editing.
  4. If the code itself appears on the page as text, open the block again and turn off Display Source, and make sure the mode is HTML.
  5. If nothing appears, check your Squarespace plan. JavaScript in Code blocks needs the Core plan or higher.

Get your embed code in a few minutes. The Free plan needs no credit card.
