How to embed your Instagram feed in WordPress

You do not need a plugin. Paste one embed code into a Custom HTML block, and your latest Instagram posts appear on the page and stay up to date.

Before you start: get your embed code

  1. Sign up for Social Feed by grip space with your email address. The Free plan lets you create one widget.
  2. In the dashboard, click “+ Connect Instagram account” and connect an Instagram professional account (Business or Creator). A personal account can be switched to a professional account for free in the Instagram app.
  3. Open “Settings & preview”, choose a grid or a slider, set the number of posts and columns while checking the preview, and save.
  4. Under “Add the embed code to your website”, click “Copy”. The code looks like this:
<script type="text/javascript" src="https://n246.grip.space/api/v1/instagram/widget/xxxxxxxx"></script>

The posts appear exactly where you paste this code. Keep it handy for the next steps.

Add the feed to a page or post (block editor)

  1. Open the page or post in the WordPress editor.
  2. Click the + button where you want the feed, search for Custom HTML and add the block.
  3. Paste the embed code into the block.
  4. Click Update (or Publish) and open the page to check the feed.

If you use the Classic Editor, switch to the Text tab (not Visual) before pasting, so that the code is not changed.

Add the feed to a sidebar or footer (widget areas)

For themes with widget areas, go to Appearance → Widgets, add a Custom HTML block (or the Custom HTML widget) to the area you want, paste the code and save.

Add the feed to every page (block themes)

With a block theme such as Twenty Twenty-Four, go to Appearance → Editor, open the template or template part you want (for example the footer), add a Custom HTML block there and paste the code. Save the template, and the feed appears on every page that uses it.

Page builders

Page builders usually have their own HTML element (in Elementor, for example, the HTML widget). Paste the embed code into that element.

WordPress.com: on WordPress.com, script tags are removed unless your plan allows plugins. On those plans, the Custom HTML block keeps the code. Self-hosted WordPress (WordPress.org) has no such limit, but only users who are allowed to post unfiltered HTML (administrators on a single site) can save scripts.

If your posts do not appear

  1. Check that the widget is set to Published in the dashboard. An unpublished widget shows nothing.
  2. Make sure the whole code was pasted, from <script to </script>.
  3. Look at the published page, not the editor. Many editors do not run scripts while you are editing.
  4. If you use a caching or optimization plugin, clear its cache after adding the code. If the feed still does not show, exclude the embed script from “delay JavaScript” or “combine JavaScript” options.
